Installing FsXPand
Install FsXPand on your Flight Simulator PC: 1. Make sure that you have your simulator software installed, and FSUIPC (in the right version) installed as wel, as a licensed FSUIPC user. 2. Switch off UAC, or at least for Administrator (see earlier) 4. Run the FsXPand installer. Follow the instructions. It is straightforward. You can set a path for the installation. DO NOT set a path that is owned by another program, like MSFS. You will have errors caused by lack of access permissions. 5. Set your permissions for the now created FsXPand share In Explorer (Windows key + E), go to the the \\yourcomputername\FsXPand share: R-click, Properties, Sharing, Advanced, Permissions, listed is 'Everyone', click Full control. Do not just create a share manually. If the program cannot do it for you, there is not enough permissions to do it and you should raise your credentials level (be Administrator). 6. Start your simulator. Load a flight. 7. Start FsXPand. FsXPand will respond with a message in the title bar, with version of FSUIPC found and the registered user name. On some systems, you may see a message that the creation of a share was not successfull. Ignore it, FsXPand waits a second before checking whether the system has responded, some systems take a lgo of time actually making the share available. Do not worry, for the next time the message will have disappeared. FsXPand wil display at the bottom: Waiting for clients... Note: It is also possible to install FsXPand on another PC than the one that runs your simulator, using WideFS. You would do this only if your FS PC has too limited resources for running a lot of additional programs. |
